If registering as an industry professional (funder, medical professional, researcher, private sector, patient advocate, charitable organization): user name, full name, affiliations/employment, biographical information, areas of interest, location (country), gender, photograph and web URL.

If registering as a patient or care giver: user name, public name (patients and care givers are not required to make the full name public but may choose to do so), location (country), gender, age, photograph, diagnosis, biographical information, areas of interest & web URL.

 

Submitting Content

The Anti Cancer Alliance is an open community platform and as a result, any content that is submitted to the Anti Cancer Alliance (e.g. through forums, posts, comments, surveys, projects, discussions, recorded videos) is intended for public viewing & sharing. Such content may include but is not limited to: health information, side effects, treatment information, clinical protocols, clinical experiences, research ideas, & opinion. All content is submitted at the User’s own risk & the User shall not hold the Anti Cancer Alliance liable for any damage that may come as a result of having posted Content on the Anti Cancer Alliance website.

 

Submitting Content – Private Areas

Any Content (including uploaded files) submitted within private areas (e.g. private groups, virtual labs) of the Anti Cancer Alliance website should be expected to be potentially shared with other Users or individuals outside of the Anti Cancer Alliance website without prior notification or consent. We advise all Users to refrain from submitting any content within the private areas that may lead to any damages if such content was made public. The original creator of the private area is at complete liberty to invite other Users to join without prior consent from existing Users. The Users of the private areas are not legally bound to keep the content shared within the private areas confidential. The Anti Cancer Alliance staff shall never share the content submitted within the private areas, except when required by the law.

 

Projects & Crowdfunding Campaigns

All information that is submitted upon the creation of a Project or upon the creation of a Crowdfunding Campaign is intended to be made public. Such information may include but is not limited to: complete project description in text, audio or video format, funding goals, amount funded, current project status, project updates, project backers and any other details that may be submitted to the Anti Cancer Alliance website in regard to the Project or the Crowdfunding Campaign. Upon the creation of a Crowdfunding Campaign, the Project Creator is required to make public the institution that will be accepting & holding the funds on behalf of the Project Creator (such institution may be a hospital, a university or a recognized charitable organization).

 

Supporting a Project

When making a financial contribution to a Project, the Contributor’s username, public profile & the amount contributed may be available for public viewing.

A list of created Projects & a list of Projects that the User had contributed to, may also be available for public viewing.

 

Private Information

 

Some of the information that Users submit to the Anti Cancer Alliance is not intended for public viewing. Such information includes but is not limited to: private email communication, telephone number, email address, password, mailing address, private messages, any supporting documents that may be submitted as part of Registration & any additional information contained within such documents unless the information is otherwise submitted by the User on a separate occasion as part of Public Information (e.g. through registration, profile or submitted Content)

Credit card & payment details are made available to the Anti Cancer Alliance staff, the Receiver (the institution that will be accepting & holding the funds on behalf of the Project Creator/Researcher, such institution will be stated on the Crowdfunding Page of the Project and may be a hospital, university or a recognized charity) & payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal).

 

How Information Is Used

 

The Anti Cancer Alliance reserves the right to use All User Information (both Public & Private) internally as deemed necessary by Us in order to provide or improve our Services (e.g. to improve security, for troubleshooting, research, statistics & data analysis).

The Anti Cancer Alliance may use the User’s private contact information if a need to contact the User shall arise (e.g. in the event of a failed payment, security concern or any other issue)

The Anti Cancer Alliance may use the User’s email address for any communication or updates from the Anti Cancer Alliance website.

The Anti Cancer Alliance may use third party services or hire third party companies that may perform certain functions on our behalf (e.g. data analytics, sending emails). Certain User information may be shared with such companies in order to enable them to perform the required functions.

The Anti Cancer Alliance reserves the right to provide User Information in both individual and aggregate format to third parties for the purpose of scientific research. Such information includes but is not limited to: website traffic information, website searches, User location (country only) and any information submitted by the User as part of Content (e.g. clinical experiences, health information). All information specified under the Public Information section may be open for viewing by other Users of the Anti Cancer Alliance website, both registered & unregistered. Information may be available in individual format or through aggregated reports.

 

How Private Information Is Used

 

The instances where the User’s Private Information may be used or provided to third parties include, but are not limited to:

The Anti Cancer Alliance may provide the User’s Private information to the authorities if required to do so by the law or in order to protect our rights, protect safety of our Users, enforce our Terms of Use Agreement or to reduce the risk of fraud. This may require us to share certain Private Information of the Users with third party organizations.

In the event that the Anti Cancer Alliance merges with or is acquired by another organization or company, both Public & Private Information may be transferred. The Users will be notified in the event of such changes.

When making a financial contribution a Project, all information included under your account (including your email address, credit card & payment details) are made available to the Anti Cancer Alliance staff, the Receiver (the institution that will be accepting & holding the funds on behalf of the Project Creator/Researcher, such institution will be stated on the Crowdfunding Page of the Project and may be a hospital, a university or a recognized charity) & the payment gateway of your choice (Stripe, PayPal).

Storage of Information & Submitted Documents

 

The Anti Cancer Alliance stores all information submitted by the Users, including private email communication. Any supporting documents that are submitted as part of the Registration process are permanently deleted off our servers within 48 hours of account activation. Such documents are never shared with third parties and all records are to be deleted prior to any part of the Anti Cancer Alliance website merging with or being acquired by another organization or company.

 

Security & Other Concerns

 

The Anti Cancer Alliance can not guarantee complete security of any Information (both Public & Private) that may be submitted by the User to the Anti Cancer Alliance. Although we take steps to ensure website security & the security of the User’s Private Information, we cannot guarantee such security and may not be able to prevent unauthorized access to our website or to the User’s Private Information.
